December 15, 1963 - June 12, 2018
The IndyPsych community was blessed by the talents and heart of Tony Trapp for twenty years. We are heartbroken to lose him but grateful for the love he poured into the lives of his clients, his church, and our community for the last two decades. His biography, below, remains as a tribute to the legacy he has left and the lives he impacted.
Growing up in a Christian home, Tony committed his life to Jesus Christ at the age of 7. He was a Christian man first and foremost, husband second and father third. He was a 1986 graduate of Wabash College where he studied psychology and biology. After a successful career in the healthcare industry, he left the corporate world and attended Cincinnati Christian University where he earned his Master of Arts in Counseling degree with an emphasis in Theology.
Tony was a pastor and a professional counselor specializing in improving relationships. After serving on staff as the Minister of Counseling and Groups at the Discover Christian Church in Dublin, Ohio, the Trapp’s returned to the Indianapolis area in 1998 to begin a Christian Counseling Ministry. Soon after returning to Indianapolis, he was introduced to Dr. Mark Dobbs by a mutual friend and was a part of ICPS ever since. Tony and his college sweetheart, Barbara, married in 1987. In addition to her role as full time mom, Barb uses her nursing degree from Purdue serving in a neonatal intensive care unit. They and their four children have been active members of the Connection Pointe Christian Church where some of their efforts have included leading a couples group, singing with the Praise Band, and teaching the preschoolers class. Tony and Barb also conducted marriage enrichment weekends as their schedules allowed.
